Microsoft/TDA Creativity Futures Forum

The Training and Development Agency for Schools is co-hosting an event at Microsoft's Reading campus on September 27, which is intended to help think through how we can help teachers become confident in using new ICT systems, tools and techniques. I have been invited to inject a 'new social tools' perspective as a counterpoint traditional centralised IT approaches that are still in evidence. In the era of blogs, MySpace and wikipedia, the way we teach/facilitate/support IT in schools is a tremendously important issue. Right now, teachers and ICT support staff have their fingers in the dyke, but a wave is looming that threatens the whole setup of ICT teaching in education, and using current thinking alone, they will be powerless to stop it. Should be a robust debate...
